Ted Harris
Ted Harris is the Contributing Editor of View Camera Magazine and the manager of the Foto3 Conference. He has photographed people and places around the globe for more than 50 years, working with all formats from 35mm through 11x14, and currently prefers 5x7. He started his image making apprenticeship as a school sports photographer armed with a Speed Graphic in the 1950's, and has been involved in all aspects of photography ever since. He is acknowledged as an expert in the interface between traditional and digital methods, and is frequently called upon to do scans for some of the world's leading photographers. He is currently at work on a book chronicling the impact of art and photography on the environment and conservation movement in the U.S., from the 1840's until the present. In addition to his own photography and digital workflow activities, Ted is one-third of Fine Focus Workshops (along with Richard Ritter and Bruce Barlow), offering continuing workshops in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Ted also runs periodic Scanning and Digital Workflow workshops around the country, and is a moderator of the online Large Format Forum. As the editor of View Camera, he is constantly reviewing portfolios, organizing work for publication, and determining layout and reproduction approaches for a wide variety of photographic art. His own work has been exhibited throughout the U.S., with recent shows at the Gallery at Bernheim Forest and Arboretum in Louisville, and The Dairy Barn Art Center in Ohio. He has upcoming shows in Massachusetts, California, and Colorado. During the 1970's, he was in residence at the renowned Torpedo Factory Artist's Cooperative in Alexandria, Virginia. His photographs are in many collections and on the covers of several American Automobile Association Tour Guides.
