Attendees will spend five days in the Canadian woods with Brits Joe Cornish and Les Mclean, and Americans Bill Schwab and Sandy King. This workshop will include over 40 hours of shooting, printing, and lectures. Be prepared for very little down time, and instead embrace hours of walking, shooting and learning in one of the most beautiful places on earth during the most colourful times of year. Each day will be filled from beginning to end with activities all run by four current masters of photography.
Each instructor will work individually with the students and each student will work with all instructors. Each day there will multiple photography outings interspersed with lectures, question and answer sessions and critiques. This will be an intensive workshop as well as an all inclusive workshop covering the full lifecycle from exposure to gallery show.
This soup to nuts approach has the goal to produce gallery quality work within a week and will keep students on task with a very clear focus. Our instructors have a demonstrated photographic prowess, the ability to produce within their unique vision and a strong ability to teach and share their knowledge.
The workshop will include on site film processing, scanning, digital image processing and printing. There will also be opportunities for aerial photography. Digital and film, advanced through beginner photographers are welcome and encouraged to sign on. Each student can expect to take home notes, four 16x20 prints made on site, hours and hours of teaching and blisters on their feet.
Following the workshop we will be hosting a gallery show and auction to benefit the AIDs Committee of Toronto through SNAP!. Framed 20" x 30" photographs from this workshop will be joined by work created during Les McLeans Street Pride Photography and JD Callow's Urban Night Photography workshops to create a stellar photography show and benefit auction. This SNAP! Satellite Benefit Auction, for the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), will be held on October 29 at one of Toronto's top boutique hotels. The sale will be conducted by Perry Tung, Ritchies Director of International Art.
The auction will be sponsored by Elevator and supported by SNAP! and ACT. SNAP! is a photographic fundraiser created by ACT with the proceeds going directly to help deliver free programs and services to people living with, affected by, and or at risk for HIV/AIDS.
